Piano in Milano

We have now reached the point where we are realizing that we can do everything and don’t have do anything. It´s a nice feeling. It´s the same feeling that we had on the summer holidays when we were kids. When we wake up in the morning we start with a blank sheet of paper. The feeling of complete freedom was a bit annoying in the beginning, we started to set up deadlines and goals for the day or the week....

Moving on

The olives are in the bag, or the oil is in the tank. It was hard work to get it there. Its quite a process actually. We and a team of eight helped Carolinas father to pick every single olive by hand. It took us two days and we also had time to eat good food and drinks during the harvest. In total we picked 1050kg. The actual picking is more like scraping the olives from the tree with your...

Time to move on

We estimate to get going again soon. As soon as the olives are ready for harvest. Looks like the harvest will be on Sunday and that means we will be back in the saddle on Wednesday. It´s been over a month now since we arrived here. It´s may sound like quite a long wait, but don´t worry, we have been busy in the garden and been munching on the fruit, vedge and mushrooms of the season. We got here just...

Steep climbs, burning sun and cool people

Lina Nordfors, Per Karlström, cykla jorden runt, Slovenien

Leaving Cieszyn we soon realized that the landscape was changing and the horizon were covered by mountains. As we were on an mission to get to Croatia on time to meet Carolinas family we had to cover more ground every day. The midday temperature also meant we had to get out of our sleeping bags early to cycle for a few hours before the sun got to high in the sky. A long siesta was crucial around lunchtime and when...

The secret mission

In Warsaw we calculated how long it would take us to get to Porec on the Croatian coast, the place where Carolinas father has a house. Also Carolinas mother and grandparents were visiting the house and were due to leave a few days prior to our arrival. Before we set out on the trip we had already decided to rest there for a while when we got there. The plan was to arrive in late September, we did´nt want to...

Happy life in Poland

Shipwreck design sunglasses

Poland invited us with a smile of two fantastic brothers and when it said goodbye, it left us with a bittersweet feeling. We did´nt want to leave, on the other hand we took with us memories and friendship that will last a lifetime. Leaving the movie set we cycled and wild camped for two days before we got to our final destination in Poland. I´m a firm believer that if you do amazing things or travel to amazing places, you...

Like in a movie!

When we went on this trip we did it to have all the time in the world, and so we have. In fact we have so much time to enjoy life that it´s sometimes hard to find time to run a blog. A bit like retired people who argue that they don´t have much time because anymore and are so busy. The last week have been a bit crazy. We have met so many inspiring and friendly people. Also we...

Life on the road

Carolina Cyklar jorden runt

Yesterday we hit the road again after resting our bodys and souls in Wigry for the weekend. Wigry, a nature reserve gave us not only our 6th day on this journey without rain (out of 23) but also nice nature, new people and a beautiful monastery that also comes with a bell, and a melody. Lovely to hear when you are awake, not that great when you´re trying to sleep at the camping right next to it. After the weekends...

Downs and mostly ups!

Since we started this trip we had five days without rain, that´s more than two thirds of rainy days. We are pretty used to rain now. While cycling it´s not to bad as long as it´s not a combination of rain and headwind. Even sleeping in a tent is ok. The problem is when it rains for days and we have no chance to dry our stuff. It doesn’t matter if the weather is bad when there are so many...

Summer is gone

It feels like the summer has left this part of the world. For us it means that it´s a bit harder to cycle and camp, but most important, it's time to get the hell outta here! Currently we have a rest day in a town called, don´t remember. But it´s a nice little town in Lithuania. We bargained for a room in a small hotel. We have unpacked all our gear and spread it in the room to dry. Yesterday...

It´s the people!

To really enjoy a journey like this you sometimes need a boost of energy. When it´s cold and rainy you need a cup of coffee and some shelter to keep the spirit up. When you been riding all day  you truly appreciate a cool drink, usually a coke and beer! In the long run, we think the greatest boost of energy comes from the generosity, hospitality and sheer friendliness from the locals we meet on the road. So far on...

Quick update from Latvia.

We have a limited access to Wifi at the moment, so there will be more photos than text… After the trips first border crossing we followed the main road leading to the coast. Late afternoon we pitched our tent and made dinner. We had an amazing sunset again and fell asleep. The morning after we planned to have a rest day and just relax on a camping. It just didn’t turn out that way. We got on a road that...

The long kiss goodbye

Our last night in Estonia turned out to be much better than we could imagine. For a while that same evening we had no hope left to find a good place to sleep. The first drops of rain fell and the sun was going down. We had cycled for a long time and took a wrong turn. We had another dog hunting us on a bad road. The road that would take us to the beach turned out to be...

It´s a sign!

We got to the city of Haapsalu in the afternoon and stopped to shop for groceries at konsum. Tomato and mozzarella is our favorite lunch, dinner and probably breakfast (just never tried it). Now we are officially on seefood diet. We eat everything we see (vegetarian that is). We asked a man at konsum where to find the best place around Haapsalu to set out tent. He gave us directions to a lake near town. Amazing again! The fact that...

Estonia, keeping it real!

As the sun was on it´s way down and the darkness was rolling in over the horizon we got off the ferry.  It was actually quite dark when we got on the road. So we just pushed on for about 15 minutes before we found a nice beach and our home for the night. When we got up in the morning we realized that we could not have found a better spot. It was amazing. We had breakfast and packed...

Sleeping with royalists

We had a really nice first day. We are now ahead of schedule. No wait! What schedule? We are off for four year, let´s not do schedules, deadlines or stress. The first thing we realized wast that we have everything we need in our bags. If fact we have just about everything we will ever need on the road. All the stuff we packed are really nice to have. Then again! It´s to much, way to much! Second thing was,...

Letting go…

As we are about to start the journey in only eleven days, the level of exitement is starting to build up. Thougts of future adventures are ever present. Meanwhile a mixture of heartbreaking goodbyes, paper work and things to sort out is keeping our minds occupied. The planning phase has been a bit more than one year and it  really is an amazing feeling for us to take the next step and let go. We have never travelled the world...
